New York

Before we left for New York we took some final pictures of Niagara Falls. When we rode through on our bikes it was the middle of the day. We still had to meet Tom and the crowds were pretty big so we did not linger.
These pictures were taken early in the morning prior to leaving.

Horseshoe Falls from above.

Please scroll down. I am still not sure why this happens.

This is where we got onto the Erie Canal in Lockport, NY. You are looking at locks 34 and 35 on the canal. We only rode the canal for a couple of miles due to the crushed gravel surface. We then jumped up onto HWY 31 and rode that most of the way to Spencerport. Spencerport lies just west of Rochester. Today we will ride the canal route to, through and past Rochester before heading north toward Lake Ontario.

Today's ride was brutally hot. the temperature was 95 degrees and it was excessively humid. The riding was OK but anytime we stopped it felt like a blast furnace. The state of NY does get one part of the bike riding experience right. On HWY 31 there is a very wide paved shoulder and the HWY is designated as NY State Bike Route 5.
